As a Ministry: KIAM is owned and operated by Voice for Christ Ministries, a nonprofit Christian missionary outreach. Every Announcer, Engineer or Secretary working at the facilities of KIAM are missionaries receiving financial support from individuals and churches, or is a self-supported volunteer.
Our History: KIAM has been on the air since June 28, 1985. Originally broadcasting on 1270kHz AM the broadcast facilities were upgraded and began broadcasting on 630kHz in late 1986. KIAM now broadcasts at 10kW during the day and 3.1kW at night.
The Network: To better reach rural Alaska, KIAM is the headquarters for the I AM Radio Network. This means that KIAM's programming is re-broadcast on translators and much of KIAM's programming is taken by KAGV 1110AM in Big Lake, KYKD 100.1FM in Bethel, and the Victory Radio Network in Naknek.
Soon, Lake Clark Bible Church Radio, McGrath Community Church Radio, and Sandpoint Baptist Church Radio will be joining the I AM Radio Network as well. All this is accomplished using a satellite connection that is versatile enough to allow us to relay KIAM'sprogramming to the most remote locations of Alaska.
Jesus Christ: We will demand that any significant portions of airtime be dedicated to glorifying Him and proclaiming His word. Explicit, accurate Biblical content will be required consistently from program providers and musicians, in accordance with Colossians 3:17. The presentation of concepts inconsistent with our statement of faith will not be allowed.
Native and Rural Alaska: Believing God has called us to reach Alaska's Native and Rural residents, we will make a considerable effort to specifically inform and minster to these listeners. Their unique culture, lifestyle, and personality will guide the arrangement and style of our daily schedule, as we seek to follow Luke 14:23.
