June 2009
As you may know, the VFCM Board of Directors met during the beginning of May, and a number of positive outcomes were decided upon. Perhaps the most important of which, was a conscious decision to honor the past and prepare for the future of VFCM. In accordance, Bob and Dee Eldridge along with the board were able to further define the Eldridge’s ministry role in VFCM. Bob and Dee will continue as full-standing missionaries and provide consultation services to the board, physical plant maintenance, and special projects as assigned. Also, Ron Heagy, Chairman of the board since 1992, announced his resignation/retirement from the board.
I had the privilege of talking with our Founder/President Emeritus, Robert C. Eldridge (a.k.a. Bob) and Ron Heagy regarding their joint-tenure in leadership of VFCM. They both fondly remember the beginning days of the ministry and look forward to seeing what God will do in its future.
Bob says of his friend, "Ron came up with ‘Hard Hats For Christ’ in late 1984 or 1985 and worked on the construction of the KIAM studios and the tower site to help us get on the air. [Mr. Heagy] immediately supported the vision of VFCM and understood the necessity of the radio ministry in the rural areas of Alaska." Ron Heagy states that the ministry of VFCM is important "because it reaches people in the remote areas of Alaska that might not otherwise get to have [biblical] teaching."

In our conversations, it was overwhelmingly evident that both gentlemen desire to see God’s word spread throughout the state of Alaska. Please join me in praying for the Eldridges and Ron Heagy as they pass on the reigns to the next generation of leadership that God will bring to this ministry.

On behalf of the staff and board members of VFCM, I would like to thank you for your financial support of this ministry, especially during our economic difficulty. Your sacrifices are allowing us to continue the broadcast of radio programs proclaiming the truth of Jesus Christ to the rural and Native populations of this state.

Sincerely,
Kristan Thieme
VFCM Missionary
