July 2009
KAGV Station Update: Recording work for both stations (KYKD and KAGV) is now being done on the production computer in Bethel. The KAGV tower
tuning cabinet insulator once again arched over and melted causing the station to go off the air. It was rebuilt and installed. Karl is working to
get a new ceramic bowl insulator and a protective shelter of some sort to guard the insulator from water. KAGV has passed the alternate FCC
inspection. These inspections cover over 100 aspects of radio broadcasting.
KYKD Station Update: Significant time was spent working on the production computer at KYKD as it was not capable of running some applications
and it was found that it had a computer virus in a hidden spot. After eradicating that virus, the computer seems to be working well. KYKD’s
alternate FCC inspection has been scheduled for August. A KYKD listener from the city jail has been talking with Karl and Kristan and requested a
visit.
KIAM Station Update: Radio Mukluks have increased in number due to listeners being at fish camps. KIAM also had an alternate FCC inspection
for both the AM and FM stations and passed.
Translators: Bob Eldridge talked with a gentleman from Eagle, and the man said that the VFCM translator equipment was not damaged by the
flooding in Eagle.
VFCM Prayer Requests: We have a need of folks who can serve in Alaska. These could be short term helpers (two months +) or career
missionaries. Please pray that God will provide the funding needed to keep the radio ministries active.
