KIAM Station Update: Nenana is no longer experiencing smoke from the various fires around the area. Rain has come to the interior. Street sealing in Nenana was creating severe vibrations and loud noises. Golden Valley Electric has been having some issues that may have caused KIAM-AM transmitter failures. The AM was off the air twice due to this issue. Golden Valley has since come out to the transmitter site and restored the 3-phase power. Work is continuing to get a backup power system for the KIAM AM tower site.  We have a generator and auto transfer switch installed but need a power transformer to complete the project. .  A listener shared with us that the Bible teaching heard on KIAM was instrumental in the formation of a church in their community.  They use some of the teaching resources they learned of from KIAM in the new church.

KYKD Station Update: KYKD passed the alternate FCC Inspection with no pending items. Bethel was experiencing severe winds (40-60 mph) which moved the satellite dish 2-4 inches on a regular basis. This wind movement combined with the smoke experienced in Nenana caused multiple, prolonged satellite drop-outs on KYKD. Staff is working on a local commercial, voiced in the Yu’pik language by a Bethel resident. There was a power outage in Bethel that seems to have been the first one in several years.

KAGV Station Update: A gentleman from New York seems to have met the KAGV need for an antenna insulator. This gentleman is sending what is believed to be the correct insulator for the KAGV tower along with some installation parts. All stations have been adding new music to their rotations.
